Women's Motorcycle Gloves
Women motorcycle riders want their riding gloves to look nice, but more than that they want them
to serve a function. Women’s motorcycle gloves should protect their hands from the elements while providing
them with a comfortable riding experience. Fortunately, it’s perfectly possible for motorcycle gloves to
provide safety and comfort and still look stylish enough to please any woman. Manufacturers make it their
business to know what their customers want, and there are a lot of women motorcyclists out there, so they pay
attention.
First and foremost, women’s motorcycle gloves should have a flawless grip. There is no room for
error when it comes to grip; the gloves have to be able to hold on tight to the handlebars whether they are
wet, dry, hot or cold. That’s one reason why, when you are looking for motorcycle gloves, you should not
settle for any that aren’t specifically made for motorcycle riding.
Your motorcycle gloves should also be flexible and not restrict your finger movement at all.
Ideally, they should close snug around the wrist, too. That isn’t a hard and fast rule, but when they are
snug around the wrist, they are less likely to slip off. Even though your gloves should be snug enough on
your fingers and hand to prevent slipping, being snug at the wrist just adds more security. The gloves should
also be lined inside so that they are comfortable for long periods of time and don’t promote perspiration on
your hands.
Not everyone is aware that women’s motorcycle gloves, and men’s motorcycle gloves for that
matter, can be designed for warm weather and for cold weather. It’s not a bad idea at all to get two pairs of
gloves, each one for a certain season. Warm weather motorcycle gloves are lighter, and often have more
ventilation in the form of strong nylon mesh along with the leather. Cold weather motorcycle gloves are
usually thicker and more insulated. There are “all weather” gloves that are offered by manufacturers as well,
though when you buy gloves that are specifically made for a certain kind of weather, you’re probably going to
get better features in each type of glove.
Harley Davidson carries a perforated women’s leather glove, and it even comes in pink and white.
Retailing for around $55, these leather gloves are tapered for women’s fingers and they are ventilated to be
comfortable in hot weather. Harley carries a full line of full-fingered, cut fingered gloves, and even offers
battery powered heated gloves for around $170 retail. Joe Rocket offers a style of women’s motorcycle gloves
with a face shield wiper on the thumb that retail for around $60, and TourMaster offers ventilated mesh-top
women’s motorcycle gloves for as low as $20 retail. It should be noted that you can browse through all of
these manufacturers’ accessory products online, which can make it easier to narrow down your
choices.
You should always shop with reputable motorcycle gear manufacturers when
you’re looking for your gloves. Biking is a great pastime and lifestyle, and you should give it the respect
that it deserves by making sure that your gear is the best, including your gloves.
